When all their videos suddenly disappeared, Mux saved the day

When CraftingTable’s YouTube account was suddenly banned, every course video on its site disappeared — leaving schools and students without access.

Founder Austin Eckman shares how he used Claude Code and Mux to recover the videos, replace every embed in just a few prompts, and build a smarter learning experience with searchable transcripts and richer analytics.

Watch the video above or read about it in Austin's own words.

Suddenly all of our video embeds on our website were just gone. Without Mux, we would've been so screwed.

My name's Austin Eckman, and I have an e-commerce store. It's all about electronics and teaching people circuits and coding.

CraftingTable is basically just this community of makers, and we like to build stuff. It's storytelling combined with electronics to bring people zero to one in their journey of learning this stuff.

There was a little bit of a crisis. So what happened was YouTube essentially... like banned our brand account, and then suddenly all of our video embeds were just gone. And all of our courses were hosted through YouTube, and I figured, “Oh this juggernaut of a website, you know all of our stuff's safe there." And it was just all gone.

Yeah, it was terrifying.

Normally in the past, this would've screwed me over for a very long amount of time. Our courses would've been down for a very long time. We actively have schools going through it, a lot of students going through it, a lot of people sending in reports that it was down.

What I did was I set up Claude Code on my computer. It scanned our website, pulled all the YouTube links, downloaded all the videos. So it was like, “Great, now I have the videos.” And then from there I was talking to it and I asked, you know, “Who are we going with next to host this?"

I was, kind of, also prompting it for, like, “Hey, pick somebody that's very AI forward. Like, pick somebody that's, like, you know, technical and has some cool tools for us to use.” Like, if I'm gonna switch, let’s pick someone that's, that’s, you know, doing the thing that we're doing. Being very AI forward. And that's when it brought up Mux.

And without me doing anything other than signing up for an account and giving the API credentials over, it automatically uploaded them all and absolutely saved the day. And on top of that, it also switched all of our video embeds on our entire website over, and it just did this in a couple prompts.

So it was crisis averted, in the most glorious, easiest way. It was one of those moments of like, "Oh crap, this is the future." 'Cause it was just, like, so easy.

Working with Mux Robots is so cool. One of the big things was getting the transcripts. Now, if someone gets stuck and they’re like, "I don't know how this part of a resistor works,” the chatbot will literally say, "Oh, click this timestamp,” and shows them exactly in the video where we explain it.

The partnership between our chatbot and the videos is just insane, ‘cause we would not have had that with any of our other video hosts in the past.

It's really cool to see the analytics. The analytics just are delivered to me in a better way. There's so much more information on the videos. And, we're collecting all this data, ‘cause we wanna see where students fall off. Where people have failure points, or where things just get boring. So, we wanna optimize that. So, like, the amount of stats, here's where everyone drops off, the fall rates, here’s your watch time. The stats are just super cool to glance at.

It's so cheap that I just don’t it’s like I don’t even think about it, you know? There's really not a better partner for video hosting.
