RTMP

Published At: March 5, 2024

The Real Time Messaging Protocol (RTMP) is used to ingest a video stream in order to broadcast to viewers. Originally invented for Adobe Flash, it has since become the de-facto standard protocol for handling live video encoding. An RTMP endpoint is the URL that ingests the incoming stream. There are different flavors of the protocol for different use cases, for example: RTMPS adds encryption by using an SSL connection.
