User Datagram Protocol (UDP)

Published At: March 13, 2024

User Datagram Protocol (UDP) is one of the building blocks of the internet. It provides a connectionless, and unreliable transmission of data between two points at potentially higher throughputs than protocols with built-in reliability features like TCP. Many video contribution protocols, including SRT, are built on top of UDP, and implement reliability features at the application level, such as forward error correction, or acknowledgement-based retransmission.
