VP9

VP9 is a royalty free video codec developed by Google. It broadly competes with the HEVC codec from MPEG. VP9 can be decoded in Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and on most Android devices along with some modern smart TVs. It's used extensively by YouTube and is the successor to VP8. It is computationally expensive to encode.
